Originally established in 1974, Figure 8 Boutique Limited was created by Mrs. Madeleine Simard, an entrepreneurial woman who started in a simple way by selling skates in her home basement. Shortly after starting the business, assessing the reaction of her customers and wanting to meet local by-law restrictions, Mrs. Simard moved her growing business to a commercial site. Bank loan in hand she pressed forward to create Ottawa's first store dedicated to servicing the figure skating needs.

Today, after more than eight expansions and three changes of address, Figure 8 has adapted itself to its ever-changing market to be one of Canada's leading skate retailers. Never changing their focus from figure skating, Figure 8 has expanded their in stock lines to cover the full range of leading skate manufacturer such as: GAM, GRAF, JACKSON, JERRY'S, MK, RIEDELL, RISPORT, S.P.TERI, ULTIMA, EDEA and WILSON. Figure skating clothing by such designers as JERRY'S, MONDOR, MOTIONWEAR, and TWIZZLE DESIGNS to name a few.

The expert staff at Figure 8 is there to help you make the right choice when it comes to your skating needs. It offers professional skate sharpening, replacement blades and mounting, custom blade contouring, heat molding, boot stretching and skate rentals, all under one roof. Today, the store is still family owned and operated by Mrs. Simard's son, Mr. Jasmin Simard.

In April 2002, Figure 8 added to it's core figure skating business by creating a new division called Hockey One Skate Specialists. Over the years, Figure 8 had expanded their expertise in skate fitting to include hockey skates. The store is an authorized PRO SHOP dealer offering a full range of hockey skates from such manufacturer as BAUER, CCM, EASTON and GRAF. In April 2002 we added a full line of hockey equipment. Wood and Composite sticks; shafts and replacement blades; Helmets, cages and visors; Shoulder pads, Elbow and Shin guards; Pants; Gloves. WE now carry a full line of products from BAUER, CCM, EASTON, GRAF, REEBOK, SIDELINES, SHER-WOOD and STEVEN'S officiating wear,

In the summer, along with keeping pace with two year around ice sports, Figure 8 keeps busy with one of Ottawa best selection of inline skates by makers such as BAUER, K2 and ROLLERBLADE.
